4/18/10: Week 2 Highlights
Two straight Sundays of sunshine (knock on wood). Ohio weather never ceases to amaze me.
The Thunder and Royals hooked up in a morning matchup at West Carrollton. Gaudy defense did in the Royals as the Thunder avenged a pair of 12-run and 13-run thumpings near the end of the 2009 season with a 17-5 final. The Thunder now lead the Miami Division with a 2-0 record.
A rematch of championship opponents took place at Xenia High School as the Rangers run-ruled the Slammers 15-3. Former Xenia Bucs alum Jonmarc Lippincott belted his first home run since 2004, and Clint Wolf added two doubles and a triple. Jonathan Silverman struck out 11 in 5 shutout innings for the win.
The Indians faltered late for the second consecutive weekend as the Shockers used an errant throw on a double play ball to score the winning run in the 10th inning to win 7-6.
The Redlegs and Cardinals played to the wee hours of the night, but the Camden squad picked up its first franchise victory in a 16-13 walkfest.
The Astros continued to roll, improving to 2-0 on the season. The 'Stros won in impressive fashion with a 17-2 run-rule of the Dragons.
