4/25/10: Week 3 Highlights

It is evident that I did not knock on wood hard enough, but it was enough, however, to get 4 of the 5 league games in on Sunday afternoon despite the constant drizzle and blustery wind.
The Thunder used a 3-run home run from David Moss, his league-leading 2nd of the season, to jump out early on the Dayton Astros. Shawn Haffner dropped his first decision in 2010, and first loss since May 24, 2009.
The first matchup between the Rangers and Redlegs came down to the wire, as the Redlegs scored in the top of the ninth to eek out a 7-6 win. Taylor Guntle and Brad Clark homered for the Redlegs. James Robinson and Jake Kingsolver homered for the Rangers. Shawn Schmitt struck out 14 and did not walk a batter in the loss.
The Redlegs faltered in the second game of a split twinbill with the Indians. The Redlegs spoiled an 11-run lead, as the Indians scored 16 unanswered runs in a 17-12 rain-shorted sloppy affair.
The Royals rolled in the nightcap as lefty Bryan Braswell 'mist'ified the Shockers in a 17-2 final. The Royals improved to 2-1 as the Kettering club has played just 18 innings in their 3 games.
The Dragons and Cards were washed out at Action Sports Center. Make-up date will be determined at a later time.
