Rangers Can’t Close Door
The Dayton
Rangers led for 8 innings on Sunday before the Indians unleashed a 9th
inning attack. The Indians batted around in the final frame and accumulated 7
runs to win by a score of 11-5.
The Rangers jumped out to a 5-1 lead after 4
innings but failed to register another run the rest of the game. Joe Staten
launched a double in the first inning to score Jeremy Cunningham with the first
run. Shane Fallen tripled to the fence in left to score Jelani
Arnold with the first of three runs in the second. The fifth run came on a
Staten blast to right center that left a permanent dent in the outfield fence
tubing that resulted in a triple, his first since 2005.
The Indians’ Phil Beach
entered into the game in the 7th and allowed only two hits to thwart
any attempt of the Rangers scoring any additional runs.
Rangers’ pitchers
accounted for 8 hits-batsmen on the day, pushing the yearly total to 14 painful
free passes.
Offensive performances of
note: Jared Bradley, Jeremy Cunningham, and Joe Staten each had two hits. Joe
added a double and a triple. Shane Fallen had an RBI triple.
