Lippincotts Drive Rangers to Victory
The Dayton Rangers rebounded from their loss on Sunday to the Outlaws by
defeating the Dayton Woodpeckers 10-2 on Tuesday night at Rotary.
The
offensive firepower came from brothers Jonmarc and Jeremy Lippincott, who
combined to go 5-for-5 with 6 RBI. Brad Clark pitched the complete game
four-hitter for the Rangers, improving his record to 2-0 on the season,
striking out 7 batters along the way.
The Woodpeckers scored
first in the top of the first with a bases-loaded walk. The Rangers answered
with two in the bottom of the first. Jacob Robinson and Jared Bradley singled
to start the inning. And after a walk to Clint Wolf, Jonmarc Lippincott singled
to right field to score Robinson and Bradley. Jeremy Lippincott belted a solo
home run to left in the bottom of the second to give the Rangers a 3-1 lead. Jeremy’s
blast was his first long ball since 2000.
Jamie Magnon drove in the second run for the Woodpeckers with
a fielder’s choice to second base in the third inning. Clint, Jonmarc and
Justin McCurdy singled to start off the fourth inning. After a sac fly from
Brad Clark and an RBI groundout from James Robinson, the Rangers held a 6-2
advantage. Jonmarc drove in a pair in the 5th inning with a single
to right. In the sixth, James singled in Joe Staten, who tripled prior to his
at-bat. James came around to score on a double by Jeremy Lippincott.
Brad picked up his 10th career victory as a
Ranger and is 9 strikeouts short of 100 for his career. Joe Staten’s triple in
the 6th inning moved him past Jake Kingsolver and Matt Caraway for
second all-time on career triples list with 10 (23 short of Clint Wolf’s team
record).
Offensive performances of note: Jonmarc Lippincott 3-3, 4
RBI; Clint Wolf 2-2 2 runs; Jeremy Lippincott 2-2 double HR 2RBI; James
Robinson 1-3 2RBI.
