Rangers Outduel Outlaws 16-2

The Rangers scored double-digits in runs for the second consecutive game. This time, the outcome was a little more favorable to the Rangers squad. Fifteen Rangers hitters combined to pound out 15 hits in 7 innings en route to a 16-2 run rule victory.

Jacob Robinson started on the mound for the Rangers. After throwing 2 shutout innings the week before, Rangers management felt it necessary to give Jacob a shot to start Game 2. And he didn't let down, as he lasted 5 innings striking out 6 batters, walking only one batter. Jelani Arnold, making his first mound appearance in almost 2 years, pitched extremely well striking out 4 of the 7 batters he faced in relief.

Clint Wolf added 3 more hits on Sunday, lowering his batting average to .700. Brent Collinsworth, Brian Robinson, Joe Staten, and Dave Roemerman also added 2 hits a piece. Scott Sundermeyer, Shawn Schmitt and Roemerman all doubled as Staten and Roemerman also added triples. Sundermeyer, Roemerman and Jonmarc Lippincott drove in 2 runs each. And Wolf and Staten contributed 3 RBIs of their own.

"We didn't let down at the plate or in the field", commented coach Lippincott. "The odds are in our favor if we continue to play error-free baseball and we continue to be patient at the plate." The Rangers only struck out 4 times on Sunday (compared to 14 in the loss to the Royals) and they forced 11 walks, including 6 hit by pitches.

The Rangers will look to continue their winning ways as they take on the newly founded Dayton Knights on Sunday May 15th at 4:15pm at Rotary Park in Beavercreek.
