Rangers Earn First Miami
Division Win
The Rangers used just enough defense and just enough hitting to knock off the Warren
County Shockers 9-3 on Saturday night, May 15 at AIA.
The Rangers scored in the bottom of the
first as Clint Wolf connected on an inside-out swing that hit off the right
field foul pole for a solo home run. The Rangers made it 3-0 in the second as Jelani Arnold’s sac fly scored Jonmarc Lippincott, and Jake
Kingsolver came around on a bobbled throw. Two more Rangers runs plated in the
fourth as Jason Sarver picked up his first career hit and
RBI with an infield single that scored Jonmarc. Jelani
Arnold came around to score on an errant throw.
The Shockers got on the board in the fifth as the first two hitters
reached on infield errors. Chris Kuhn and Ryan Diehl would drive those runners
in to cut the Rangers lead to 5-2. The Rangers got one run back in the bottom
of the fifth as Clint Wolf doubled for the second at-bat in a row to score
Steve Marshall. The Rangers got two runs in the sixth on a pair of dropped fly
balls and an infield throwing error, sandwiched in between an RBI groundout by
Lippincott. A passed ball plated a Shockers’ run in the seventh to make it a
8-3 ballgame., The Rangers’ final tally came in the
bottom of the eighth as Lippincott’s infield single scored Ben Schooler.

Silverman picked up his second win of the season pitching 8 innings, allowing 3
