5/27/10: Week 6 Highlights
On Thursday night May 27th, the Beavecreek Sox made it back-to-back wins with a 7-6 come-from-behind extra innings victory. Sox held a 5-1 lead before giving up 5 unearned runs in the sixth inning. Austin Bach singled with two outs in the bottom of the seventh for the Sox to send the game to extra innings. Phil Kosier doubled to deep center field in the bottom of the 8th for the Sox game-winner.
On Tuesday night May 25th, the Beavecreek Sox brought the kryptonite as the Thunder sufffered their first loss of the year, falling 12-0 to the Sox. Tyler Fruhwirth, Jon Venters and Tom Piatte combined on the two-hit shutout.
Astros rookie Mike Dunfeee made his debut a successful one as he struck out 12 Sox batters en route to a 4-3 win on Sunday, May 23. Slammers' rookie flamethrower Sean Casey improved to 3-0 as he threw 7 shutout innings against the Dragons. Justin Dunlap went deep for the second time in three games for the Slammers. Clint Wolf homered and hit a bases-clearing triple to lead the Rangers past the Redlegs 12-3. Jonathan Silverman improved to 3-1 on the mound. Head coach John Ramsey helped his own cause in giving the Thunder its 6th straight win to start the season. Ramsey pitched the final three innings to pick up the win and drove in the game-winning run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning. The Royals squeaked past the Indians 5-2 as Chris Jergens homered for the Boys in Blue. The Shockers snapped a four-game losing streak by beating the Cardinals 11-8.
