FRANKLIN HONORED AS P.O.W.
Franklin is 5th player this season with Grand Slam
The Miami Valley Adult Baseball League recognized catcher Mark Franklin from the Kettering Royals as the Milano's/Buffalo Wild Wings Player of the Week for May 23-29. In a doubleheader sweep of the Miami Valley Bats and Warren County Shockers on May 29, Franklin went 5-for-7 with five RBIs, four runs scored, a double and a grand slam in leading the defending league champs to their seventh straight win. Mark is a graduate of Fairmont high school and the University of Dayton and has been the head coach of the Royals since 2005.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK
First closer to be honored in 2011
Kettering Royals closer Chris Jergens is the recipient of this week's honor. Jergens entered the game against the Shockers with the bases loaded and one out, with the Royals trailing by a run. Jergens was able to strike out the next two batters, giving his team the opportunity to score two runs in the final inning to take the lead. Jergens notched two more K's in the Shockers final at-bat to preserve the win. He pitched 1 2/3 innings, faced 7 batters, struck out 4 and gave up no hits for his first win of the year.
