Rangers Take Advantage of
Panthers D, 13-3
The Dayton Rangers took advantage of a porous Panthers defense and smacked six
doubles en route to a 13-3 victory on Sunday, June 8.
Jacob
Robinson continued his dominance of the Dayton Panthers, improving his record
against the Panthers to 3-0 lifetime. Jake improved to 3-1 on the season with 8
2/3 innings pitched, allowing four hits and striking out 8.
The Rangers
jumped out early in the bottom of the first with 3 unearned runs. Clint Wolf
reached on a fielding error, stole second, and came around to score on Brad
Clark’s two-out double. Jeremy Lippincott’s check-swing single plated Clark for
the second run. Reis Pearson, who reached as a result of a right kneecap beaning, scored on a wild pitch. The Panthers’ Chris Hall
scored on a fielder’s choice in the third to cut the Rangers lead to 3-1.
The Rangers scored 10 runs
in the fifth through seventh innings with the help of 7 fielding miscues by the
Panthers infield. The fifth inning started off with a tomahawk-chop double to
right field off the bat of Jacob Robinson, who promptly scored on Jonmarc
Lippincott’s double to right-center. Reis Pearson and Joe Staten also had RBI
doubles in the frame. RBIs from Jonmarc Lippincott and Aaron Armstrong padded
the Rangers lead to 10-1 after six. The Panthers got two runs back in the top
of the seventh with the help of leadoff doubles by Doc Hayes and Taylor Hause. James Robinson and Shane Fallen singled amongst four
throwing errors to contribute to the final three runs of the game.
