6/10/10: Week 8 Highlights

   The Beavecreek Sox won the their 7th straight game and moved atop the Buckeye Division standings with a 9-3 win over the Redlegs on Tuesday, June 8 and an 8-3 victory on Thursday, June 10 over the Slammers. Mitch Jones, Richard Hernandez, and Tyler Fruhwirth combined on the 5-hitter against the Redlegs. Jon Venters picked up the win Thursday despite giving up a 3-run home run to Slammers outfielder Justin Dunlap.
   The Springfield Indians took both games of a doubleheader against the Miami Valley Dragons out at Northwestern HS. As these two teams were launching longballs up in Springfield, the same looked to be happening down in West Carrollton as well. The Shockers out-homered the Royals 3-2 and ultimately won the game 11-9. Drew Dobbins hit a pair of home runs for the Royals.
   In a battle for the top spot in the Buckeye Division, the Slammers came out victorious in a 13-12 defeat of the Redlegs. With the win, the Slammers move back atop the Miami Division standings, tied with the idle 'Stros at 3-1 in the division.
