Rangers, Green Stealth Defeat ‘Stros 12-10.

The Rangers offense came out swinging in the top half of the first with the help of a new secret weapon, Aaron’s new green Easton Stealth bat. Jonmarc Lippincott started off the hit parade with a double to right. Clint Wolf followed with a 2-run HR over the right field fence. After a double from Dave Roemerman, and singles from Brent Collinsworth and Scott Sundermeyer, the Rangers plated another run. Jelani Arnold finished the 5-run first with a 2-out, 2-run single to right.

After giving up a run in the bottom of the first, the Rangers got the run back in the second when Lippincott led off with a single and came around to score on a single by Sundermeyer. The singles game continued in the 3rd. After a walk to Arnold, Brian Robinson, Lippincott and Wolf all singled. Following a balk on Astros starter Tony Walters, Roemerman hit a sacrifice fly to give the Rangers an early 10-1 lead.

But the Astros battled back scoring twice in the 3rd and 6 times in the 5th to cut the lead to 11-9. Starting pitcher Matt Hood was effective for 4 innings giving up only 4 hits during that span. But Hood ran into a little bit of trouble in the fifth before Jacob Robinson came in for some much needed relief. Robinson came on to pitch the remaining 4 2/3 innings giving up an unearned run in the ninth to pick up the win. Jacob is now 2-1 on the season and 2-0 in the MVABL.

Clint Wolf went 5-5 with a HR, 3 runs scored and 3 RBIs. Jonmarc Lippincott was 3-5 with a double, 3 runs scored, and 2 RBIs. Brian Robinson had 3 runs scored. Dave Roemerman, Brent Collinsworth and Scott Sundermeyer each had 2 hits on the day.
