Fallen Liner lifts Rangers
10-5
Rangers’ catcher Shane Fallen broke out of a midseason slump with a pair of
hits, three RBIs and his first career home run, as the Rangers split a double
header from the Dayton Panthers winning 10-5 in game two.
Scoring was hard to come by early as the
score was tied 2-2 through four innings. Shane’s 2-run blast in the fifth gave
the Rangers the lead. Steve Marshall added a sac fly in the sixth, accompanied
by RBI singles from Jared Bradley and Fallen. The Rangers picked up three more
in the seventh inning. Clint Wolf’s single to left, skipped past the
outfielder, which allowed Jeremy Lippincott and Joe Staten to score. Brad Clark
doubled in the last run for the Rangers.
Most of the
Panther damage came from their 10-13 hitters in the lineup (5 walks, single, 4
runs scored). Damon Barr, game one’s starting pitcher, singled three times and
scored a run.
Reis
Pearson picked up his second win of the month with six innings of work,
improving his record to 3-1 in his rookie campaign. Matt Hood pitched the
seventh, giving up one run.
Offensive performances of
note: Jeremy Lippincott, Shane Fallen, and Jared Bradley each went 2-for-3;
Jonmarc Lippincott 2-for-4. Clint Wolf scored twice, raising his league-leading
total to 24 runs scored.
