7/03/10: Week 10 Highlights

After week 10, the Miami Division race is locked up between the Thunder and Rangers. The Thunder hold a slight advantage as they used two come-from-behind 6th innings to beat the Rangers 12-7 and tie them in the nightcap at 12-12. The Rangers followed up the DH with a pitcher's duel on Tuesday night, as Joe Becker tossed a complete game 3-hitter over the Indians, winning 2-1. Matt Spradlin homered but was the hard-luck loser in this one.
The Royals put up a 20-spot on the Dragons with the help of an 8-RBI performance from Chris Jergens. Jergens and Mark Franklin launched home runs in the victory.
The Redlegs bested the Cardinals in a double-dip at Preble Shawnee, winning 4-3 and 6-3. Rookie Taylor Guntle improved to 4-0 on the mound. The Cards got back in the win column on Tuesday night as they knocked off the Dragons 6-4. The Redlegs however, had their winning streak halted against the Sox on Tuesday, losing 15-11. The Sox, meanwhile, have put together a 13-game winning streak as they beat the Slammers twice this past week as well.
The Shockers took both ends of a doubleheader up at Northmont HS versus the Dayton Astros. Thomas Fluty homered and drove in 8 runs for the Shockers. PJ Dobbins belted three HRs for the 'Stros.
