New Lineup Sparks Victory
The Rangers, looking for a little
shakeup to fuel a league win, scored in 6 of 8 innings to contribute to 16-4
victory over the Kettering Outlaws.
Veteran Scott Sundermeyer was given the daunting task
of filling out the scorecard Sunday and the new middle of the lineup made his
selections look good. The Rangers 2-6 hitters combined to go 15-21 with 14 runs
scored and 9 RBIs.
Jacob Robinson took the mound for the Rangers and
was sharp from the beginning, not allowing a runner to score until the 6th
inning. Jake finished with 6 strikeouts on the day walking one and giving up 2
earned runs as he raises his record to 3-1 on the season (3-0 in the MVABL).
The Rangers got on the board in the top of the
first after the first 3 runners reached base and Brent Collinsworth tripled to
right field. Jonmarc Lippincott followed with a sacrifice fly to left center to
give the Rangers an early 3-0 lead. Two more came across in the 3rd
inning. Brian Robinson led off with a single, stole second and scored on a hit
from Clint Wolf. Brent followed again with a base hit and Lippincott hit into a
fielders choice to drive in Wolf. Wolf
led off the 5th frame where the Rangers would increase their lead to
8-0. After a Wolf triple, Collinsworth reached on an error and Wolf
scored. Lippincott singled next and
Dave Roemerman followed with an RBI single.
James Robinson singled in the 8th run with a two-out hit.
Brian Robinson manufactured the 9th run by singling to left,
stealing second and scoring on an errant throw.
The Outlaws scored 2 in
the bottom of the 6th to cut the deficit to 9-2. But the Rangers
answered with another three-spot. After Collinsworth led off the inning with a
walk, Lippincott doubled him home. After Roemerman walked, Matt Hood drove in 2
runs with a double. The Outlaws managed two more runs in the bottom of the 7th
, but it was not enough as the Rangers piled on 4 more in the 8th
to complete the run-rule.
Dave Roemerman finished 4-4
with a double and 2 RBIs. Brian Robinson, Clint Wolf, and Brent Collinsworth
each had 3 hits. Wolf and Collinsworth scored 4 runs a piece. Jonmarc
Lippincott drove in 3 runs. Matt Hood finished with 2 hits and 2 RBIs
