7/16/11: All-Star Outlook
ALL-STAR OUTLOOK
Automatic Starters Named
Each season, teams get to vote on who will be the automatic representative from their team to the All-Star Game. The remaining All-Star roster is filled in by the coaches. Congratulations to the following players who have been selected as the top vote-getters on their teams:
Beavercreek Sox: Brandon Ward
Camden Redlegs: Brad Clark
Dayton Blue Jays: Will Howard
Dayton Rangers: Shawn Schmitt
Dayton Tigers: Ryan Smith
Fairborn Athletics: Kyle Combs
Kettering Royals: Kevin Reynolds
Miami Valley Bats: Kyle Mefford
Miami Valley Cardinals: Darren Himsworth
Miami Valley Thunder: John Connell
Ohio Mariners: Chris Ranstead
South Dayton Slammers: Rick Anderson
Springfield Indians: Matt Spradlin
Warren County Shockers: Matt Stiffler
A lot of storylines in this year's game, including:
Two of the top hitters in the league, Chris Ranstead (Mariners) and Phil Kosier (Sox) are making their first trip back to the All-Star Game since 2005.
The Redlegs' Brad Clark has the longest active streak of All-Star appearances as he attends his 5th straight game.
Redlegs' teammate Jacob Robinson is the only other player on this year's roster with 5 All-Star appearances.
Veterans Shawn Schmitt (Rangers) and Rick Anderson (Slammers) are each appearing in their 4th ASG.
19 of the 36 players on the All-Star rosters will be playing in the event for the very first time.
3 head coaches will be playing in the game: Rick Anderson (Slammers), Jacob Robinson (Redlegs), Thomas Fluty (Shockers).
Surprisingly, in his fifth season, despite being listed at the top or near the top in a lot of the MVABL career and single season pitching records, Indians pitcher Matt Spradlin will be making his 1st ever All-Star appearance.
The complete list of players can be found on the All-Star page.
