Rangers Snuff Out Dragons, 15-2

Rangers’ outfielder Clint Wolf continues his hot hitting in leading the Rangers to a 15-2 win over the Centerville Dragons on Sunday.

Wolf launched two home runs, including a grand slam, and drove in 7 runs in a 4-for-5 performance. Brad Clark was just as dominant on the mound holding the Dragons to seven hits over six innings of work, striking out 10.

The Rangers scored first in the first inning as Clint belted his first home run of the game, a 2-run shot to right-center for a 2-0 lead. Shane Fallen singled in Jared Bradley in the second for a 3-0 lead. The Rangers opened up the scoring in the fourth inning, plating five runs on the heels of a grand slam from Wolf. The Rangers batted around in the fifth, as Fallen, Brent Collinsworth, Jonmarc Lippincott, and Wolf all had RBI singles. The Rangers final run came in the top of the sixth as Shane singled in his third run of the day. Immediately following the run scoring single (which loaded the bases), Jim Brown lined into a triple play.

The only runs for the Dragons came off the bat of newcomer David Riley who tattooed a triple to right field, driving in a pair.

        Offensive highlights: Clint 4-for-5, 7RBI, 2B, 2 HR; Jonmarc Lippincott 2-for-4, 2runs, RBI, BB; Brad Clark 3-for-5, 2 2B; Jared Bradley 2-for-4, run; Brent Collinsworth 3-for-3, RBI; Shane Fallen 2-for-3, 2 runs, 3RBI; Jim Brown 2-for-4, 2 runs.

Historical notes: Jonmarc drove in Jim Brown in the fifth inning for his 300th career RBI. Clint is 3 home runs shy of tying the all-time single season HR mark held by Jonmarc Lippincott. Clint homered in his first plate appearance on Sunday, but grounded out in his second at-bat, halting his consecutive hits streak at 8 and tying the all-time Rangers mark of consecutive hits with Jonmarc. Clint’s 7 RBI in the game tied Jonmarc with the most RBI in a single game. Clint is 1 HR shy of tying Matt Caraway’s record of home runs in a single month (5) and 5 RBI away from tying Caraway’s monthly mark of 19 RBIs.
