Robinson Blanks Panthers

Rangers ace Jacob Robinson tossed a 1-hit shutout against the Dayton Panthers on Sunday defeating the home team 1-0. Jacob shut out the Panthers earlier in the season as well in a 12-0 seven-inning win in May.

The lone run came in the fourth inning when Clint Wolf led off the inning by lacing a triple to right field. As the relay throw from right went awry, Wolf rounded third full speed and slid safely across home plate as Panthers catcher Chris Kuhn made a great attempt to apply a swipe tag.

The Rangers had runners in scoring position in four other innings but were unable to execute when needed. Panthers starter Jeff Cherry was outstanding on the mound as well, scattering six hits in his complete game effort. Jacob and Jonmarc Lippincott added singles, Jared Bradley punched in a double, and Matt Hood doubled and singled in four plate appearances. Hood is now 5 for his last 11 and with the help of Clint’s offense, the Rangers have now won 3 of its last 4 games.

With the win, Jacob moves into third place all-time on the Rangers career wins list with 18.

Offensive performances of note: Clint hit his 6th triple of the season and 32nd of his career. Jacob stole two bases, giving him 10 this season.
