Rangers Records Fall in 19-6
Win
Making up for an earlier 19-6 loss to
the Outlaws in May, the Rangers turned the tables on the same team Sunday night
and defeated the short-handed Outlaws by the same score 19-6.
Infielder Jonmarc Lippincott and first
baseman Joe Staten each broke Dayton Rangers records in the game. As the
leadoff batter, Staten reached base in all six plate appearances (hit, HBP, 2
walks, ROE, FC) and scored a team-record six runs. Lippincott went 6-for-6 on
the day including a triple and two doubles. No batter in Rangers history has
had more than five hits in a game. Lippincott also scored four times and drove
in five.
The Rangers sent Jacob
Robinson to the hill to try and pick up his first win since Opening Day. Jacob
fell behind early giving up a leadoff walk and back-to-back-to-back singles.
Three fielding miscues, a walk, and a hit later, the Outlaws sent 12 batters to
the plate and scored six runs in the bottom of the first to take a 6-3 lead.
Robinson calmed down and only surrendered one more hit through seven innings of
work. Jake finished with seven strikeouts. Jared Bradley and Jeremy Lippincott
pitched the last two innings sneaking out of trouble to keep the Outlaws from
scoring.
Clint Wolf and Brent
Collinsworth each added four hits to the stat sheet. Collinsworth, after
starting the season mired in a 1-for-17 slump, volunteered to take himself out
of the lineup after ten games. The catcher has found new life in his approach and
has gone 13-for-25 with four doubles since the benching.
NOTES: The Rangers finished with a season-high 26 hits. Brad
Clark and Jeremy Lippincott were the other multi-hit performers. Jeremy added
two doubles and three RBIs. The 1-5 hitters finished 15-for-26 on the day with
14 runs scored. Thirteen Rangers players had hits. The Rangers improved to 5-0
on the season when scoring first.
