Woodpeckers Shutout Rangers 4-0

The Dayton Rangers left the bats at West Carrollton on Sunday and failed to bring them on the road trip up to Howell field on Tuesday night, as they were blanked by the Ohio Woodpeckers 4-0.

The Woodpeckers only mustered six hits off of Rangers righty Brad Clark, but they pounced on each miscue that the Rangers provided. The Woodpeckers got their first run in the third on an RBI single by former Ranger Mike Siegman.  Three more insurance runs were plated in the fifth on two-out hits by Brad McIntosh and Brad Thoma.

But the Rangers offense was unable to back up a solid outing by Clark (6 IP, 6 hits, 6 Ks). Jonmarc Lippincott singled with one out in the first inning to provide the only hit off of Woodpeckers starter Matt Klaus. Two other Rangers were able to reach via the walk but were erased on base running mistakes.

The Rangers (7-7) look to rebound from this seesaw season as they take on conference foe, the Dayton Attack Mules on Sunday July 30th. The Rangers are tied 1-1 in the series this season.

Notable stat for the game: With Jonmarc’s hit in the first inning, he broke a 10 year-old team record by getting a base hit in 8 consecutive plate appearances.
