Outlaws Outslug Rangers, 12-5
Josh
Rayburn got the start for the Rangers and was effective over six innings of
work. The Outlaws scored in each of the first three innings, all after
recording the first two outs of the inning.
The Outlaws
started out with four runs in the top of the first. Mark Lucas, Josh Jaynes,
and Jarrod Arden each singled in the first. Matt Owens drove in PJ Dixon in the
second, and Josh Jaynes homered in the third. The Rangers answered in the
bottom of the first as Jacob Robinson led off the inning with his first career
home run. Clint Wolf tripled later in the inning and scored on a throwing
error. In the third inning, Clint Wolf his a two-run home run, his eighth of
the year. Brad Clark made it back-to-back shots with a homer over the
scoreboard in the left-center.
The
Outlaws held a 6-5 lead through six innings, but got to reliever Jim Brown in
the 7th and 9th innings scoring 6 more times, keyed by a
home run by Matt Owens. Outlaws pitcher Mark Lucas held the Rangers in check all
day, striking out seven and scattering 8 hits for the complete game victory.

Jacob’s seven wins are a career-high for a single season. Clint tied Matt
Caraway’s record of home runs in a single month (5) and is 2 RBI away from
tying Caraway’s monthly mark of 19 RBIs. The Rangers pitching staff is three
strikeouts away from reaching 2,000 in franchise history.
