8/14/09: SPRADLIN ENTERS RECORD BOOK

Springfield Indians flamethrower Matt Spradlin finished the regular season with 126 strikeouts, shattering the previous single season record of 114 punchouts held by former Dayton Rangers ace Rob Hoover back in 1997. Spradlin surpassed the record in a doubleheader tilt against the Kettering Royals at the end of July. Matt added 11 more Ks in a win over the Thunder on August 13. His 263 career strikeouts puts him fifth on the all-time charts.
