Rangers Lose Grip on 3rd Place, Fall Twice to Woodpeckers

In a game that the Rangers needed to stay in the hunt for the #2 or 3 seed in the MVABL, a much needed victory was nowhere to be found.

In Game 1, Shawn Schmitt pitched an outstanding ballgame, but once again fell victim to a lack of run support as the Rangers lost 2-1.

The Rangers could only muster 5 hits in the first game. Jake Kingsolver had 2 of them including his first HR of the season. The Rangers had their chance to take a lead in the 5th by loading the bases with a single from Joe Staten, a double by Schmitt and a walk to Matt Hood. However, a strikeout and two short flyouts kept them stranded on base.

The second game saw more of the same in terms of stranding runners on base. The Rangers had 2 bases loaded situations again, but could only get one of the runs to score. Clint Wolf and Jacob Robinson each had 2 hits in the nightcap. Joe Staten had 2 RBIs and Jonmarc Lippincott added the other RBI.
