Robinson Records Record Win
Jacob Robinson picked up his 10th win of the season on Sunday,
August 31 as the Rangers defeated the Outlaws 14-7.
In his
second attempt at win No. 10, Jacob received plenty of offensive support early in
the game. Outlaws starter Mark Lucas, who stifled the Rangers in the previous
matchup, was hit hard in the first three innings as the Rangers jumped out to
an early lead 11-3 lead.
In the
first inning, Jacob led off with a single and went to third on a single by
Jonmarc Lippincott. Brad Clark singled in Robinson. James Robinson then singled
in Lippincott. Joe Staten then launched a three-run home run for a quick 5-0
lead. The Outlaws answered in the bottom of the first with an RBI single by
Rick Anderson. The Rangers put up another five-spot in the top of the second
inning. Jacob led off the inning again with a single and scored on a double by
Jelani Arnold. James drove in his second run of the day with a single. After
Joe singled and stole second, Shane Fallen hit a two-run single to left,
followed by an RBI base hit by Jared Bradley. The Outlaws chipped away in the
bottom of the second on Mike Golding’s first career home run to left field to
cut the lead to 10-3. The Rangers made it 11-3 with a bases-loaded walk in the
third.
The Outlaws turned to PJ
Dixon to stop the bleeding in the fourth. PJ held the Rangers to just three
hits over the next five innings. A Mark Lucas two-run single in the sixth cut
the Rangers lead again to 11-5. Brad Clark’s RBI single and Joe’s two-run
double counted for the remaining three runs for the Rangers. Jim Brown relieved
Jacob on the hill in the ninth. If not for a fielding miscue with two outs, followed
by a Josh Jaynes home run, Jim’s appearance would have been flawless.
