Rangers Lose to Angels 17-8

The Rangers finished the MVABL postseason tournament on a sour note. Back-to-back blowouts concluded a very successful season despite a .500 record.

The Rangers failed to capitalize on a lot of key situations throughout the game. Baserunning gaffes, poor visibility for fielders, and leaving a lot of runners stranded on base were the main culprits on a lackluster night for the Rangers.

Shawn Schmitt started for the Rangers and looked sharp for the first 3 innings. But the Angels came out swinging in the 4th and 5th frames, plating 14 runs. Scott Pollak finished the game from that point, allowing 3 runs on 4 hits.

Five hitters had multi-hit games for the Rangers. Brian Robinson had two hits including a triple. Ethan Goetz reached base all 5 times up with 3 hits and 2 walks. Jonmarc Lippincott singled and doubled. Clint Wolf tripled twice and Shawn Schmitt singled twice.

GAME NOTES: Ethan Goetz stole 2 more bases to bring his season total to 15, tying him for 3rd best in a single season. Brian Robinson's triple tied him with Matt Caraway for the most triples in a single season (5). Brian is 3 hits shy of moving into a tie for 2nd best all-time for hits in a single season.
