Royals knock off Astros for Title

   The Dayton Astros could not avenge a 1-hit shutout loss to the Kettering Royals in the 2007 championship game. The top-seeded 'Stros fell to the Kettering Royals again as the Boys in Blue took games 1 and 2 by the scores of 8-5 and 14-9. Congratulations to the Royals on their MVABL Championship repeat!!


ROUND 2 RESULTS
Astros Sweep, Rangers/Royals play 3

   The Dayton Astros and Springfield Indians played some exciting baseball Saturday afternoon. The Astros came from behind yet again to knock of the Indians in game 1 with a walk off hit by Dustin Vincent. The Astros won the second game as well to advance to the championship series for the second straight season.
   The Rangers and Royals needed a Game 3 to decide its series winner. The Royals won 5-2 in the first game with the help of a 4-run fifth inning keyed by a Brian Duffy 2-run double. The Rangers won the nightcap as Jacob Robinson finally got in the win column against the Boys in Blue with a 4-1 four-hitter. Jake and Aaron Armstrong provided the knockout blows in a 3-run sixth inning. The Royals jumped out on the Rangers scoring 8 runs in the first two innings en route to an easy 11-6 victory.

ROUND 1 RESULTS
Indians pull off lone upset

   The Springfield Indians pulled off the Round 1 upset, taking out the fourth-seeded Woodpeckers in games 2 and 3 on Sunday. The Woodpeckers won game 1 by a score of 4-3 on a 3-run HR by Drew York. The Indians answered back in game two winning 10-7 before taking the decisive game 3 with an 8-7 win.
   The top-seeded Astros had their hands full with a fiery Dragons squad, pulling out a first game win in the bottom of the seventh inning before coasting to a series clinching victory in the nightcap. The second-seeded Royals swept the Outlaws 6-3 and 14-8. And the Rangers took care of a depleted Panthers squad 4-1 in the first game with a second-game forfeit win.
