BOX SCORE and EXPANDED STATS

The MVABL’s only action on Sunday took place at Madison High School as the Camden Redlegs and Miami Valley Expos met up for the first time this season.  Field crews were able to get the field ready for a 2:00pm start time, which gave the teams just enough time to get game one finished before heavy rain forced game two to be postponed.

The Redlegs took the lead in the bottom of the 1st when Jacob Robinson started the inning with a walk, stole 2nd, moved to 3rd on a fly out to right field, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Kyle Arend.  The lead was short lived though as the Expos took advantage of a pair of Redleg errors in the top of the 3rd that would result in 3 runs crossing the plate.

Camden quickly took back the lead in the bottom of the 3rd scoring 3 runs of their own.  Jacob Robinson and Matt Mattice both walked and Arend drove Robinson in on another sacrifice fly.  Mike Hartman then singled in Mattice and Hartman would later score on a wild pitch.

After a quiet 4th, the Redlegs poured it on in the 5th and 6th innings.  The Redlegs scored 6 times in the 5th inning, all with two outs.  James Robinson drove in a pair of runs while Ryan Gross and Jacob Robinson each added RBI base hits.

JR Nixon blasted a solo home run in the top of the 6th to inch the Expos closer to a 10-4 score, but the Redlegs would then pile on 8 more runs in the bottom of the 6th to close the door on any comeback attempt.  Adam Parks, making his MVABL debut, knocked in a couple of runs while Matt Mattice had a 2 run single.  Nick Davis and Kyle Arend each batted in a run while Ryan Gross and Jared Bradley each worked RBI walks.

Matt Redman moves into a tie for the league lead in wins as he picked up his 3rd of the season.  Redman allowed only 2 hits while striking out 4 Expos in the complete game effort.

With the MVABL off for Memorial Day, the Redlegs will get a rare interleague matchup against the Springfield Angels of the DABL.  The game will take place at Howell Field at 4:00pm on May 28th.
