Boars come up short fall to Slammers

Boars fall to 500 on season

 

Bellbrook High School, Eagle Field. April 28,2019

Bellbrook, Ohio. 

The Wild Boars quest to remain unbeaten in 2019 came to a halt on Sunday as the Boars took on the last seasons defending Champions and fell 4 to 2.Jeff Beall tossed 8 innings on way to his 2nd win on the season while, Nick Bozman fresh from the Normal Cornbelters in 2018 picked up the save.

The Boars managed to keep the Slammers off the board in the 1st after Slammers 2nd baseman Tanner Lilly hit a single, reached 3rd on a throwing mistake,  but when he tried to come home on a F/C from Dean Grandfield, Boars 3rd baseman thew a strike to catcher Gary North who tagged Lilly out Grandfield reached on the F/C, The Boars where unable to push across the runs needed to take down the Slammers though they had chances, 2nd year player Tyler Pennington #00 hit a double in his first at bat in 2019 but was stranded at 3rd in the 3rd inning.

Again the Boars were poised to score in the 5th, after Pennington drew a base on balls, And Boars 2nd baseman Markus Hall, hit a single and rookie Matt Seibert, got his first single and with bases loaded the Boars looked to get a couple runs but came up short again.

In the 7th the Boars pushed a run across after Pennington walked his 2nd on the day. Hall walked and rookie Sean Johnson hit the gap with a double, Pennington scored to break up the shutout, while Hall who had to hold just enough wound up at 3rd. Slammers lead was now 3 to 1.

The Boars 2nd run came off a couple more hits from the rookie class of 2019, Steven Zimmerman got his first hit while rookie starting pitcher, Sid Srinivasan picked up another hit and an RBI on the year scoring Zimmerman. 

After giving back 1 run to make the final score, Slammers 4 and the Boars 2,  the loss puts the Boars at 500 on the Year. Pitcher Sid Srinivasan pitched 8 strong innings allowing 4 runs, 2 earned, on 5 hits 6 K's and is turning out to be a workhorse on the mound for the team. Gary North came out in the 9th to face 5 batters and getting 1 strike out.

Boars Rookie Shortstop Matt Seibert picks up his first Boars Player of the game Seibert recorded 1 P/O and 5 assist.

Boars Offensive Player of the Game came down to 2 between Pennington and Johnson but the Stolen base put him up. Sean Johnson was 2-5 with a double, 1 RBI, 1 S/B.

The Boars head to Howell Field in Dayton to face the Knights on Sunday May 5th in a Double Header come out and see the Boars and the Knights.
