Split DH brings 2 wins for the Boars over Knights and Machine

Minner Brothers go on offensive tear

Centerville High School, Centerville Ohio May 19, 2019

The Boars looked to improve on the hot start they have had in 2019 by visiting both the Knights in game 1, and the Machine in game 2, at Centerville High School.

The Boars jumped out early on the Knights and led 3 to 1 after one inning. The Boars added 4 runs in the 3rd and 4 runs in the 4th with back to back home runs from Rookie 3rd baseman, Colin Minner and 2nd year Boars veteran, Gary North. At the end of 4 complete the Boars lead was 11 to 1. 

The Knights added 1 run in the 5th and 3 in the 7th but could not close up any more as the stout Boars defense held strong. 

Dave Pruim went 6 2/3 Innings for the win allowing 3 hits, 4, runs, 2 earned 2 BB and 12 K's.

Offensive highlights include

Sean Johnson, 3 SB. 

Sully Minner and Sean Johnson went, 3 for 5

Sully Minner, Colin Minner, each had1 - 2B, Steven Zimmeman had 2, 2B.

Gary North and Colin Minner each had Home Runs.

RBIs

Sully Minner and Gary North, had 2 each,  Steven Zimmerman had 3, Colin Minner had 4.

Defensive Player of the game was Sully Minner with 6 PO's and 1 assist.

While Offensive player of the game went to Colin Minner 2 for 4 with a 2B, HR and 4 RBI's 

 

In the late game the Machine came calling on the visiting Boars, and brought their new pitcher who was able to keep Boars hitters baffled in both the 1st and 2nd innings, But the 3rd inning brought the top of the order back up and the 2nd time through, proved problematic for the rookie pitcher. The Boars managed 5 runs in the 3rd, 1 in the 4th and 1 in 5th to lead 7 to 3.

The Machine countered in the home half of the 5th with 6 runs led by Paul Wilson in his return to the Machine lineup. The Machine  subsequently took a 2 run lead. Which was short lived in the top of the 6th as Gary North hit a ball to the gap that rolled to the wall, pulling into 3rd standing but when a throw went off the mark allowed North to go home. Not to be outdone Markus Hall blasted a ball to the gap in right center that also went to the wall, Hall dug to 3rd and again the off mark throw allowed Hall to go Home with back to triples and runs. The Boars had reclaimed the lead and put up 8 runs to lead by 6 , 15 to 9.

The Machine did not score in the 6th, but added 1 in the 7th to close to within 5, 15 to 10.

But the Boars were not done in the 8th, led by the new Pitcher of record  Steven Zimmerman and the Rookie Colin Minner, Zimmerman singled and Minner blasted his 2nd Home Run in as many games on the day. The Boars added 4 in the 8th, and 6 in the 9th to put 25 runs on, The Machine added 3 in the 9th but it was not enough as 2nd baseman Markus Hall took the last relay to end the game. Boars win 25 to 13. 

Gary North Started the game and went 4 1/3 7 earned runs 7, K's  while Rookie Steven Zimmerman collects the win going 4 innings with 3, K's 2 earned.

Defensive Player of the game goes to Matt Seibert SS, 7, Assist 2, PO.

Other highlights include

Markus Hall was 4 for 4 while Steven Zimmerman was 3 for 4,           Sean Johnson and Dave Pruim had Stolen Bases

RBI's 

Gary North and Greg Pfeiffer had 1, Steven Zimmerman and Jimmy Herold had 2, David Pruim had 3, Sully Minner and Markus Hall had 4 while Rookie Colin Minner had 6

Triples Both Markus Hall and Gary North had triples stand up with throws off mark could have gone inside the park but was 3B.

Colin Minner went for a Home Run and a triple away from the cycle.

Offensive Player goes to Colin Minner going 5 for 5, single,  2 doubles, HR, 6 RBI's, HBP. 

 

Boars next game is Tuesday May 28th at 7:00 pm as they return to Oak Grove Park in Centerville Ohio
