The Redlegs (5-2) and Rangers (3-3) remain deadlocked in their all time series dubbed “The Backyard Battle” as a double header split on Sunday brought the overall series to 17-17.

Camden got to work right away by scoring 3 times in the top of the 1st.  Matt Morrison walked to start the game, followed by a single by Jacob Robinson.  Kyle Arend then knocked in the game’s first run with a single.  Two batters later, Joey Watson drove a double into deep left field to bring two more runs home.

Adam Parks helped manufacture a run in the 2nd by working a two out walk, then moved around to 3rd taking advantage of a couple of wild pitches.  Matt Morrison then knocked Parks in with a timely base hit.

The Rangers pulled within two by scoring a run in the 3rd and an unearned run in the 4th, but that was all the damage they would be able to do against Aaron Carmack as he plowed through the Ranger lineup en route to his 2nd straight complete game victory.  Carmack would end the day with 10 strikeouts over 7 innings of work, while allowing only 4 hits and 1 earned run.

The Redlegs piled on 3 more runs in the 6th.  Matt Mattice drove in a run with a single early in the inning, and later Matt Morrison brought home two runners with another two-out base knock.

Game two simply did not go the Redlegs way.  In short, 7 errors helped result in the Rangers score a whopping 26 runs, 17 of which came in the final two innings.

Michael Cookson tossed the first 5 innings of the game was saddled with an undeserved loss as a result.  Cookson yielded 9 runs, but only 2 were earned on 5 hits and he struck out 8 Rangers hitters.

Jacob Robinson went a perfect 4 for 4 in the nightcap, adding a double and an RBI.  Kyle Arend and Matt Morrison each added two hits, and James Robinson blasted his 1st career home run from the left side of the plate.  James drove in 3 of the Redlegs 7 runs.

The Redlegs will attempt to shrug off the 2nd game defeat and try to start up another win streak this Saturday.  The Wright Knights (2-6) will stand in their way as the two clubs face off at 1:00pm at Carlisle High School.
