Minner picks up first win on season

Oak Grove Park, Centerville Ohio, 6-13-19

The Boars returned from the 2 week layoff and unleashed a Offensive barrage, that saw 14 hitters go to the plate and score 8 runs in the first inning. Boars second baseman Markus Hall pulled a lead off walk but was gunned down by catcher Difono Arnold trying to take 3rd base.  Sully Minner scored the Boars first run, and Hall after a redeeming single in his 2nd at bat of the inning, which drove  in a run, then scored the last run of the first inning.

It turns out that that would be all Sully Minner would need as he retired the Indians hitters, in both the 1st and 2nd innings, striking out the final 2 batters in the 2nd. The Boars then continued and added 4 more runs in the 2nd, to pull out to a 12 to 0 lead, Starting with another RBI double from Greg Pfeiffer his 2nd on the day with 3 RBIs.  Markus Hall cleared the bases with sharp hit drive just past the Center fielder Alan Dotson's glove, as he made the diving attempt, but Hall was already headed to 3rd, for his 2nd triple on the year. Hall scored when Sully Minner hit into a F/C but collected the RBI his 1st on the day.

In the 3rd the first blemish showed itself on Minners pitching a BB was issued to the Indians pitcher, and after a single by Dotson advanced him to 2nd. Indians skipper Mike Golding hit a sharp shot to 3rd base,  which allowed Boars rookie 3rd baseman Brian Erbe to double off Avery, and throw Golding out at first for the 5-U-5-3 double play.   But the big bat of Mookie Holmes  ripped a triple to right field scoring Dotson and allowing the Indians first run.

Gary North led off the Boars 3rd with a single,  and Greg Pfeiffer swinging a very hot bat on the day,  reached on an error to load the bases. Just signed new rookie Conner Morris collected an RBI on a FC, And the Boars were back up by 12.

The Indians went down in the 4th uneventful,  while the Boars added 4 more to pad the lead for their veteran pitcher.  Sully Minner took a lead off double and scored off Colin Minners single ironically giving him his 2nd RBI, as the Minners continue to keep pace with each other. C. Minner  went to 3rd on a double by Gary North, who were both brought in by Brian Erbe's Double along with his 2 RBI's. Erbe scored on Greg Pfeiffer's 3rd hit on the day and collected his 4th RBI on the day.  As the Boars lead increased to 17 to 1.

Greg Pfeiffer came on in relief and had some struggles before settling down. After hitting the first batter and giving up a hit to lead off hitter Alan Dotson, Peiffer, struck out Golding and but then gave up a walk.  A fly out to center allowed another run to score and then back to back hits scored another run. Pfeiffer then struck out the last batter for his 2nd on the day.  The score had gone to the Boars 17 and the Indians 5.

The Boars came up with the top of the order up, Markus Hall led off with a double, leaving him just a homer short of the cycle, Minner hit a single, and collected his 2nd RBI on the day.  Jimmy Herold hit a double which scored Minner, after back to back walks loaded the bases, Brian Erbe was hit by a pitch ending the game at 20 to 5.

Brian Erbe takes Boars Defensive Player of the Game, for 3- Assist and 1 PO with the 5-U+5-3 double play.

Markus Hall Takes Boars Offensive player of the Game, going  3 for 4, with a single, a Double and a Triple 1- BB, 3 runs scored.

Greg Pfeiffer takes the honorabl Mention this week going 3 for 4 with, 2- Doubles, 2, Runs and 4-RBI's

The Boars are off for Fathers day weekend and want to wish all Fathers the best day with their families. The Boars return to action on 6/23/2019 at Middletown Madison against the Redlegs in a DH starting at 1:00 pm. Come out and see the Boars and the Redlegs.
