Boars take 2 from Redlegs

Beegle battles Carmack, while Carey takes on Cookson

The Boars traveled south to take on the Camden Redlegs on Sunday, 2 Rookies making debuts for the Boars Pitching rotation. In Game #1 saw Brandon Beegle take on Redlegs ace Aaron Carmack. The Boars struck in the first wasting little time on the always dangerous Redlegs. Markus Hall was hit by a pitch in his first at bat, he was not at first for long as Rookie Sean Johnson sliced a ball to the gap which went to  the fence scoring Hall and Johnson pulled into 3rd with his first Triple of the day.

Johnson made it home on Dylan Pletsch's first hit on the day. Pletsch, then scored on Sully Minners RBI single. The Boars led 3 to 0.

That score held till the top of the 4th inning when Gary North drew a 1 out walk and quickly stole 2nd, Brian Erbe hit into a fielders choice but the throw went high to Mike Hartman and North took home to put the Boars up 4 to 0.

Kyle Arrend scored in the bottom of the 4th after a single and a stolen base and a double by Saige Micomonaco, Broke up Beegle's shutout, and after 4 innings the Boars led 4 to 1.

Top of the 5th brought the top of the Boars order back up and they started again were they left off.  Hall this time hitting a double, But Sean Johnson struck again into the gap and Hall scored on Johnson's 2nd Triple on the day. Pletsch walked and stole 2nd and Jimmy Herold drove them both in with a single. Boars lead had increased 7 to 1.

Beegle now with a 6 run lead struck out the side in the bottom of the 5th, and after a Matt Morrison single, Jacob Robinson hit a ball to Center that Jacob Cooper managed to run down, but just as he caught the ball he also found the fence and  the resulting collision allowed the ball to tip toe along the top cap and fall just on the other side for a home run. Beegle finished the 6th and 7th and the Boars won 7 to 3.

Brandon Beegle went the distance 7 innings striking out 6 giving up 3 earned runs to take his first win.

Jacob Cooper takes Boars Defensive Player of the Game for 2 nicely timed diving catches robbing Redleg hitters of extra bases and a collision with an outfield fence.

Sean Johnson takes Boars Offensive Player of the game going 2 for 3 with 2 Triples and 2 RBIs, 1-HBP, 1-SB.

 

Game #2 saw another Rookie pitcher take the mound for the Boars home game. Zac Carey  struck out 3 Redlegs hitters in the first inning with Kyle Arrend managing a single, as the Boars came to bat.  Redlegs pitcher Michael Cookson, walked Hall and Johnson, Pletsch popped up to 3rd and Jimmy Herold lined to short and Morrison stepped on 2nd to double up Hall.

Colin Minner at 2nd recorded assist off the first 2 batters on sharp grounders, and Markus Hall at Short took the final 6-3 recorded out in the top of the 2nd.

The 3rd inning came and went with only the Boars threatening in the Bottom, but a line drive snagged by center fielder Jacob Robinson, diving with 2 outs, prevented and ended the threat of any runs scoring for the Boars.

The Redlegs scored first in the 4th, Matt Morrison was out on a play at the plate which saw him and Gary North, the Boars catcher both diving for the same piece of real estate, the umpire saw it as North tagging Morrison and an out. but Kyle Arrend's double brought home, Jacob Robinson for the first and only run of the game for the Redlegs.  Dylan Pletsch's  center field dive with 2 outs ended the Redlegs at bat.

With the Boars hitting in the bottom the 4th,  saw a couple walks lead to a couple wild pitches which allowed Jimmy Herold the recipient of the walk to score and tie the game at 1. Colin Minner drove in his brother for an RBI F/C which gave the Boars a 2 to 1 lead and, Gary North, Scored on another wild pitch and Brian Erbe hit a single, and scored on Jacob Coopers RBI single. The Boars had plated 4 runs and had the lead 4 to 1.

The 5th and 6th and 7th went without further runs being scored and Carey assisted on the ground ball back to him for the 1 to 3 last out. The Boars won 4 to 1.

Zac Carey records his first win with a complete game 7 innings with 7 Strikeouts, 0 BB, 1 earned run.

Dylan Pletsch is the Boars Defensive player of the game with 2 diving catches and the, 8 to 6 to 2 strike that assisted in the out at the plate.

Colin Minner is the Boars Offensive player of the game,  1 for 3 but brought home the game winning  RBI on the F/C.

Jimmy Herold takes the HM,  for the Boars after a walk and hit a by Sully Minner, Herold tied the game coming home on a wild pitch that was close at the plate.

 

The Boars travel to Piqua High School, next Sunday to play the Royals  in a DH at 1 and 4
