MVABL All-Star Game July 17

All-Star Rosters Announced

The 2019 MVABL All-Star Game will take place on Wednesday, July 17 at Fifth Third Field in Dayton.

The game will start at 7pm and will be preceded by the Homerun Derby, which will begin at 5:30pm. There will be no cost to get into the stadium. Concessions will be open.

Rick Anderson of the South Dayton Slammers and Joe Cantrell of the Wild Boars will be the All-Star coaches this year. Both coaches met up to draft their rosters from the entire pool of eligible MVABL players.

Team Anderson stayed close to home and took pitcher Jeff Beall with the first pick. Team Cantrell went the same route and took his own power-hitting first baseman Sully Minner. The remainder of the rosters are announced below.

Each team was granted an 'Automatic Starter' who will be guaranteed a spot in the starting lineup. Here is the list of those players who were recognized for this honor:

Cardinals - Brandon Cusick
Indians – Alan Dotson
Knights – Jerel Bristol
Machine – Paul Wilson
Rangers – Ben Schooler
Redlegs - Matt Morrison
Royals – Mark Carpenter
Slammers – Daniel Barhorst
Wild Boars – Sully Minner

TEAM CANTRELL

All-Star Notes:

  • Rick Anderson will be coaching in his 4th All-Star Game (2018, 2017, 2013). Joe Cantrell will be coaching in his 4th All-Star Game as well, and first as the skipper of the Wild Boars. 
  • Knights’ Jerel Bristol has the longest active streak to appear in an All-Star Game (7)
  • 19 players will be making their first All-Star appearance
  • 12 rookies will be playing in the All-Star Game
