Carmack Wins 5th, Micomonaco Homers in 11-4 Win
After suffering two tough losses in a row, Camden finally got back in the win column on Sunday evening. They were able to best the Mad River Machine 11-4 in 9 innings at Actions Sports Complex in Dayton.
Aaron Carmack continued on his stellar 2020 campaign as he blanked the Machine over the first 5 innings of the game, allowing just one hit in the process.
Meanwhile, the offense backed him up and gave him plenty of room to work. They got started in the 3rd inning thanks to a nice little two-out rally. Jacob Robinson singled and moved over to 3rd on a double by Mike Hartman. Saige Micomonaco then blasted his 2nd homerun of the season with a towering shot that sailed over the fence in left-center field. Micomonaco struck again the in the 5th when he singled in Mike Hartman, who had singled earlier in the inning. Joey Watson then delivered an RBI base hit to give Camden the 6-0 lead.
The Machine then finally got to Carmack in the 6th. They used 5 consecutive hits to score 4 runs in the frame. Brad Malott helped stifle the rally by snaring a liner at 2nd base and turned an easy double play on a runner who was attempting a steal of 2nd base.
Carmack returned to in the 7th and turned in a 1-2-3 inning to finish off his day’s work. He now stands at 5-1 with a 2.70 ERA on the season.
Cameron Svarda started the bottom of the 6th with a walk and scored on a double by Jesse Jones. Camden then turned in 4 more runs in the bottom of the 7th to push the advantage to 11-4, which would stand as the final score. James Robinson picked up an RBI single in the frame and Jesse Jones delivered his 2nd RBI double in as many innings.
Jones then tossed the final 2 innings to finish off the game with little excitement. He yielded just 1 hit while striking out two Machine batters.
