Wild Boars battle with the Machine

Stewart and Yates combine for 11 K'S

The Washington Twp. Wild Boars were at Gastineau Field in New Carlisle Sunday. Where they met the Mad River Machine at 1:00pm. Andrew Madlinger took the mound for the Machine looking to add to his career K's needing 5 for 200 in the MVABL.

 

Rookie Nick Stewart 1-0 in his career looked to put a few on his resume as well. Both Pitchers were dealing through the first couple innings. The Boars struck first when Jason Combs singled and after a Brian Miracle strike out that was Madlinger's 200th. Markus Hall came to the plate and drove a pitch over the leftfield power alley for the 2 run home run, and the Boars lead 2 to 0.

 

Stewart shut the Machine out for the 5 innings, striking out 6 along the way, allowing only 1 hit and issuing 1 base on balls.

 

The 6th inning was a breaker for the Machine, The Boars bats woke up with the top of the order back to the plate, Hall Singled and the next 10 Boars scored as well. Which put the Boars up 12 to 0

 

Matt Yates in relief of Stewart picked up on the K-train striking out 5 of his own in 2 innings work. When Markus Hall came in to finish the game, a single a hit batsman and a double, led to 3 Machine runs with Jake Banks, Tyler Bundy and Brandon Reece all scoring.

 

The final had the Boars at 22 to the Machine 3, and had Markus Hall of the Boars closing in on 100 career runs (18 away), Boars Manager Joe Cantrell, closing in on 200 wins (8 away) and closing in on 250 career hits (15 away) after slicing a single to right field.

 

Markus Hall, takes Boars Offensive Player of the Game with 2 singles, a Home Run, 2 BB and 3 runs scored.

 

Boars Defensive Players of the game finds Matt Seibert SS and Jason Combs 2B, the middle infield of the Boars sharing the top defensive honors this week.

 

Nick Stewart, 2 and 0, 5 innings pitched, 1 hit, 1 BB, 6 K's

 

Matt Yates 2 innings pitched, 2 hits, 3 BB, 5 K's

 

The Boars face the Knights next week at Gastineau Field in New Carlisle at 4:00pm
