Yates shines in first start for the Boars

Matt Yates rookie pitcher 7 innings, 0 hits 0 runs

New Carlisle Ohio, Gastineau Field 4:00pm The Washington Twp. Wild Boars, took to the field against the Wright Knights. The Knights winners last week over the Stars. The Boars currently at 2 and 0 and hoping to continue, visitors today came to bat first.

 

Markus Hall the Boars lead off Hitter, started with a double to the gap, and advanced to 3rd when Jacob Greve singled splitting the 2 at the corners. Both Hall and Greve scored on Matt Seibert's double. In fact today Hall and Greve would score all the Boars runs.

 

On the Mound for the Boars was Rookie Matt Yates, Yates, came on in relief of Nick Stewart last week, earning his 5 strikeouts for his career.

Yates would go 7 innings (his longest outing of the year) with no hits, no runs, 3 BB, 11 strikeouts.

 

In the top of the 7th The Boars struck again after Hall walked, Jacob Greve homered to left field as the Knights left fielder could only watch as it flew over the wall. The Boars lead increased to 4 to 0.

 

Markus Hall came on in the 8th inning and after getting the first 2 batters when Brody Dunlevy singled to right field. The Knights then popped out to second to end the inning.

 

The Boars top of the order were up again. Hall led off with a double, a single by Greve and a stolen base, this time Sully Minner provided the hit with a 2 RBI's as Hall and Greve scored again for the 6 to 0 lead. The Knights managed an unearned run in the bottom of the 9th, after a pinch hitter reached on a Boars error. Zach Gomia hit a double for the RBI.

 

Jacob Greve takes the Wild Boars Offensive Player of the game, Greve went 3 for 5, 3 runs scored, 2 singles, 1 HR, 2 RBI's.

The Boars travel to Middletown Madison next week on May 2nd for the first of 5 Double Headers as they take on the Camden Redlegs at 1pm and 4pm.
