Pederson, Rangers stay hot

Ridl and Kujo add doubles and 3 RBIs in 18-0 win

Rangers pitching remained red-hot as three hurlers combined for a 2-hit shutout en route to an 18-0 victory over the Southern Ohio Stars. It marks a team's record third straight game with allowing 2 hits or fewer from the opposition.

​The Rangers offense continued off of Thursday night's success, scoring twice in the top of the first. Nick Gilmore started things off with a single and went to third on Rob Pederson's double to right center. Ben Schooler grounded out to short, allowing Gilmore to score. Markus Neff then roped a single to right center to make it 2-0. Cooper Nolte kicked off the 2nd with a triple and scored on Mike Seebock's groundout. The Rangers added 3 more runs in the third on a two-run double from Chris Ridl and an RBI groundout from Jonmarc Lippincott.

​Meanwhile, Rangers starter Noah Schleinitz rolled through the Stars lineup, allowing a hit, a walk, and struck out 6 in three innings.

​After a brief shower passed through Fairmont's campus, the Rangers would 17 batters to the plate in the top of the fourth, tallying 11 runs in the frame.  Neff had an RBI single. Pederson and Dominic Kuzujanakis each had 3-run doubles. Pederson added a run-scoring single later in the inning.

​Kenny Owens relieved Schleinitz and K'd two in a scoreless fourth inning.

​Ridl added an RBI single in the top of the fifth to make it an 18-0 ballgame.

​Joe Becker rounded out the rotation on the day with a 3-up, 3-down fifth inning to move his record to 7-2 on the season. Becker reached the 7-win mark for the 5th time in 12 seasons.

​Historical Notes: Nick Gilmore's next run scored will be his 200th in league play.
