Wild Boars tangle with Dodgers

Hall close in on 100 runs

Sunday May 15th, The Washington Twp Wild Boars returned to action today. Traveling to Kettering Field today to take on the Darke County Dodgers. Matt Seibert started the Boars off to a 1 to 0 lead after a sharp single, Markus Hall walked, and Thomas Troy hit a Sac fly to bring Seibert home. The Dodgers up in the home half of the 1st inning, faced Brent Cox, after striking out the first 2 Dodgers hitters Cox walked Brian Marsh and then struck out Gallimore.

The Boars forced another run in the 2nd   when Sully Minner singled and came home on a Andrew Tucker f/c. Boars leading 2 to 0. Cox issued another walk to Dodger hitter Die, and then struck out the next 3 Dodger hitters to run his K total to 6 over 2 innings.

In the 3rd Markus Hall singled and scored along wit Thomas Troy (walk), on Andrew Tuckers single up the middle. The Boars were ahead by 4, Cox went back to work striking out 2 and getting the 3rd Dodger to ground out to Minner at 1st.

In the 4th inning the Boars threatened but the Dodgers held firm, Seibert singled and Hall walked after 2 outs, Thomas Troy flew out to left to end the Boars threat. The Dodgers got on the board when Kristian Scalf hit a single, stole 2nd and 3rd, came home on a easy throw back to the pitcher. Cox struck out the next 2 batters, then a single by Brian Marsh and another K by Gallimore giving Cox 11 Ks for the day.

The Boars back up to bat in the 5th blew it open, Jimmy Herold struck out for out #1, Minner, Bower, Tucker with another RBI singled. Miracle RBI single, Ryan Griffis in his first plate appearance gets 2 RBI’s single. Combs singled and scored Seibert walked Hall singled and scored with an RBI, in all 7 Boars hitters scored to push the score to 11 to 1. Cox gave way to Kyle Conley for his first game pitching since joining the team. Conley just a little nervous gave up a double to Die, but Herold put Die out while trying to steal 3rd. Conley rushing got called for a Balk and then a single which produced an unearned run. Matt Yates was brought in, and he was able to strike out the last 2 batters to close the 5th.

In the 6th Andrew Tucker walked then stole 2nd, and 3rd, Miracle and Griffis struck out, Kilbarger walked and quickly stole 2nd, Combs struck out leaving the pair on stranded. Yates still on K’d Iverson got a grounder to Minner who again handled it himself and struck out Fulcomer. Boars still leading 11 to 2.

The 7th inning Jason Combs walked, Markus Hall hit an RBI double moved to 3rd on a Thomas Troy single and scored on a SAC fly by Minner to right. Tucker struck out for the 3rd out, but the Boars had moved to 14 to 2. Jonathon Curtis on in relief of Yates hit the first batter he faced, then struck out the next 2. A single from Die produced an RBI, before the 3rd batter popped out to Miracle at 1st.  Boars 14, Dodgers 3.

The Boars final 2 runs came in the 8th inning as Brian Miracle ripped a doublebut was put out on a f/c going home. Griffis who reached on the f/c and Kilbarger who singled, Combs reached on an error, Seibert got another single with RBI, and Hall got a SAC fly for an RBI. Boars lead was now 16 to 3 and they needed 3 outs to close the game in 8. Curtis still on the mound HBP on Dohme, Wesling and Spivey before being lifted for Markus Hall. Hall then struck out Jones and got Iverson to hit it to Seibert who flipped to Combs who relayed to Miracle for the 6-4-3 double play to end the game.
