Wild Boars and Dayton Rangers split in a DH at Valley View

Hall gets Run #99 and adds Hit # 99

Sunday June 5th, 2022, The Washington Twp. Wild Boars traveled to Valley View High School the home of the Dayton Rangers. In what would turn out to be a pitchers’ duel between Brandon Saylor for the Rangers and Brent Cox for the Boars.

Markus Hall got his 99th run as a member of the Wild Boars after he was hit by a pitched moved to 3rd by centerfielder Dylan Bower and scored on a Ranger F/C as they opted for the double play. Boars took a 1 to 0 lead in the 1st as Cox took the mound. After Nick Gilmore grounded out Cox struck out 2 batters to batters to end the inning.

Runs were scarce for the Rangers and the Boars as the Boars managed a 2nd run in the 3rdto stretch a lead to 2 to 0. After Andrew Tucker walked stole 2nd and 3rd and went home on a throw that went into left.

The Rangers managed a run after Quinn was HBP and went around after an error allowed him to get home. After that the scoring was over, The Rangers threatened a couple of innings. Cox gave way to Dreier who earned his 1st save of the year. After a shaky 6th settled down to 2 K’s an a flyout to end the game.

Andrew Tucker gets Wild Boars Offensive Player of the game for scoring the winning run after a BB and 2 stolen bases.

Brent Cox takes the Win with 5 innings, 0 earned runs, 10 K’s.

Dylan Bower gets Boars Defensive Player of the Game 5 put outs running down 3 deep balls to retire the Rangers.

 

Game 2

The Wild Boars scored the same amount of runs as in game 1, however They gave up 6 to the Rangers hitters to earn a split. The Boars runs came in the 3rd as Ryan Griffis 3 for 3 on the day, scored on a Andrew Tucker single. And Jackson Forbes scored after reaching on a F/C and scoring on a Brian Miracle single. It would be the only runs the Boars would get in game 2.

Markus Hall picked up career hit #99 as a member of the Wild Boars. But Hall was thrown out trying to get to 2nd. The Rangers strung together 2 runs in the 1st, 2 in the 4th and 2 more in the 7th as Dylan Bowers outfield let some deep ball find daylight.

Bower took the loss giving up 6 runs 3 earned and striking out 4 but had 0 BB.

Ryan Griffis gets Boars Offensive Player of the Game 3 for 3 with a run, SB.

Jimmy Herold Gets Boars Defensive Player of the Game playing 1st base and SS, Herold went deep in the hole to backhand a ball then threw a strike to get the runner by a step. Herold also in the same inning started a 6 to 3 Double Play.

 

The Boars will be at Rotary next week at 1PM for the Slammers come out to Beavercreek and see the Washington Twp Wild Boars and the South Dayton Slammers play at Rotary Park.
