The Redlegs lost a heartbreaker to the Wild Boars on Sunday, falling 4-3 on a walk off hit by the Boars in the bottom of the 9th.

Things started off strong for the visiting Redlegs.  Jacob Robinson started the game with a line drive into left center field.  The Boars were able to track it down in the gap and perform a perfect relay to nail Robinson at 2nd base trying to stretch the hit into a double.  Jesse Jones then reached on an error, and later scored on a base hit by Mike Hartman.  Hartman would then score on an RBI double by Joey Watson

The Boars answered in the bottom of the 1st, putting an unearned run on the board after a Redleg error.  It looked like things might be worse as the Boars put runners on 1st and 3rd with just one out.  The runner on 1st attempted a steal at 2nd and Redlegs catcher Cody Saraco-Polner fired to 2nd where Jacob Robinson was waiting.  The Boars runner on 3rd broke for home, so Robinson cut off the throw and delivered a strike back to Saraco-Polner who applied a perfect tag to cut down the runner at the plate.  Starter Jesse Jones then induced an inning ending groundout to preserve the Redleg lead at 2-1 after the first frame.

The next 5 frames were held scoreless on both sides, as Jesse Jones continued to keep Boars hitters off balance.  Jones also picked off a Boars baserunner in the 2nd to kill any potential rally early on.  In the 6th the Boars had runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs when the next batter hit a sharp ground ball at 2nd base.  Lucas Smith was able to make the stop and make a flip from his stomach to 2nd base where Robinson was able to barehand it to eliminate the lead runner.  The next batter hit a sharp hopper back at Jones who was able to knock it down, recover, and team up with Robinson for a 1-6-3 inning ending double play.

Mike Hartman continued his hot hitting by leading off the 7th with a double, and eventually moved around the bases and scored on a Boars throwing error to give the Redlegs some much needed breathing room and a 3-1 lead.

The Boars made use of a seeing eye single and a pair of walks, combined with a Redlegs error to tie the game in the bottom of the 8th at 3-3.

The Redlegs threatened in the top of the 9th, putting runners on 1st and 2nd with nobody out.  But the Boars were able to turn a clutch double play followed by a strikeout to send Camden away empty handed.

The Boars wasted no time in the bottom of the 9th, as they were able to get the tying run to 3rd and score without an out recorded.

Jesse Jones is the victim of yet another tough luck loss and now stands at a misleading 2-4 on the season.  Record aside, Jesse has an excellent 3.68 ERA and has struck out 43 batters in 44 innings pitched this season.
