The Redlegs dropped to 0-2 after a weeknight loss to the Springfield Angels on Wednesday night, falling by a final score of 10-5.  The Angels used some Redlegs miscues and were able to circumvent the Camden defense with a variety of perfectly placed base hits to keep them in threatening position for most of the game.

The Angels took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st, but Camden reclaimed that lead in the bottom half.  Max Ramsey singled, followed by Kyle Arend reaching on an error.  This led to Ben Schooler swatting a 2-out 2-run double to bring both runs home.

The Angels scored three times in the 3rd to take the lead and they never looked back from there.  Interestingly, Ben Schooler racked up 10 strikeouts through his 5 innings of work but the Angels were able to score enough to keep the lead throughout.

Camden tried to make things interesting late by scoring twice in the 6th and once in the 7th.  Kyle Arend started the rally in the 6th with a walk, followed by a double by Mike Hartman.  Ben Schooler and Matt Mattice then both delivered RBI singles to cut into the deficit.

Tyler Schrock started the 7th with a double and later scored on a fielding error, capping an impressive MVABL debut where he went 3 for 3 with 2 doubles and a single.  He also tossed the final 2 frames, picking up 2 strikeouts and giving up no earned runs.  Matt Mattice helped his new teammate out, snatching a line drive with a diving catch in center field in the final frame.

Camden is back at it on Sunday at 1:00pm at Howell Field against the Southern Ohio Stars.
