Orioles get first Win of 2024

Orioles 13 - Stars 5

Orioles get first win of season and rookies continue to shine.

After starting 0-2, the Orioles looked for a bounce-back game against the Stars and they would have it. Jumping out to an early 4-2 lead the Birds would never look back thanks to a lot of walks (12 on the day) and timely hits (10 total 7 with RISP).

Vinny Sarno took the mound for the Orioles looking to get back to how he was pitching late last season - and he would. Vinny would get the win by throwing 5 innings allowing just 2 unearned runs, 3 hits and 10 strikeouts! Max Gonzalez would then come in for relief by closing out the rest of the game and allowed just 1 earned run in 4 innings of work with 6 strikeouts himself.

While the Orioles pitching led the way, the young birds continued to shine. CJ Storer had his first career hit in a multi-hit effort that included a double. 1st round draft selection Connor McFarland got his first career hit on a bases clearing double that started the Orioles scoring in the 1st inning. The big bop would come in the 4th when red-hot rookie Brady Klein launched a low curveball over the wall for his first career HR. Brady has had multiple hits in all 3 of his games this year and is currently hitting .538 (7-13).

A solid game all around puts the Orioles in the win column for the first time in 2024 and they look to continue the winning ways in a DH against the new Grizzlies (1-2) next Sunday.
