The South Dayton Slammers and Wild Boars met up for the second time this season on a hot day at Bellbrook HS this past Sunday.

As the visiting team, the Slammers were able to score a run in the first inning for the quick 1-0 lead.  Chris Funke made his first career start for the Slammers and pitched well.  The Slammers extended their lead to 5-0 in the top of the second inning as Aaron Fannin lead off with a ground rule double.  After a couple of fielder choices moved runners around and scored a run, Todd Barhorst went with the pitch and smacked a two run double past the left fielder.  Dan Barhorst then came up and launched a two run home run to round out the scoring for the inning.

The Wild Boars scored a run in the bottom of the second inning but the Slammers got that run back in the top of the third inning on a Fannin RBI ground out.  In the top of the fourth inning, Patrick Kerttula lead off with a walk and came home on Dan Barhorst’s second home run of the day, a deep shot to right field.  The Slammers’ offense kept going in the top of the fifth inning as Mike Raiff lead off the inning with a double and scored as Taylor Hause doubled.  Hause moved to third on a ground out and scored on a Todd Barhorst SAC fly to deep center.  After the Boars scored once in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Slammers came back with three runs in the top of the sixth inning on a Fannin three run home run to right center and scored three more times in the top of the eighth inning for the 16-2 win.  Raiff had three hits, including two doubles and a RBI and Clay Ragland had three hits and scored four runs.  Funke gets his first Slammers victory going 5 innings, allowing 3 hits with 4 strikeouts.
