Boars, Rangers split DH at Belmont

Each visiting team wins the hard way

Belmont High School, Dayton Ohio Sunday May 20th, 

The Boars and Rangers squared off for the first time this season in a double header originally scheduled for Centerville High School but, due to weather was moved to Belmont in Dayton Ohio. In the early game the visiting Rangers sent veteran Joe Becker to the mound to pitch against the Boars, While nick Stacy went to the mound for the Boars.

The strike zone was tight and a couple costly walk and an error left the Boars digging a hole early for their veteran Pitcher. The Rangers put up 3 in the top half of the 1st while the Boars bats remained sluggish from the Mothers day weekend break.Boars in the first 3 innings could only put together a couple hits from Jimmy Herold, and Markus Hall after a couple base runners made it to base on a few miscues by the Rangers. after 3 the Rangers led 10 to 0 knocking Stacy from the game after a Grand Slam from Brandon Marshall for the Rangers.

Travis Knight came into pitch for the home club allowing 1 in the 3rd and 1 in the 4th. The Boars did finally break into the scoring column after Thomas Troy singled and the Rookis took over as Dylan Pletsch sent one sailing over the alleyway in right field for his 2nd homer on the season. The 6th was quit for both teams as the Boars still trailed 11 to 2.

The Rangers put up 5 more in the 5th and Becker went into cruise mode, after Herold grounded out to short Markus Hall, took a single and Meade Tabata pulled into 2nd with a double, Sully Minner hit a  RBI single with runners on 1st and 3rd and 1 out Thomas Troy Rookie #33 launched his first of the season to Center field  for a 3 run shot. Stacy and Cash both singled and were driven home by Brandon Lucas's double his 2nd hit in the game.The Boars came with 6 and trailed 16 to 8 but that's were the magic ended as the Boars fell to the Rangers 17 to 8.

Defensive Player of the game for the boars was Markus Hall, 6 assist and 1 put out with 1 error. 

Offensive player of the game was Thomas Troy going 3 for 2 with a home run and 3 RBI's

Honorable mention to Dylan Pletsch 1 for 3 with a 2 run home run for 2 RBI's

 

Game 2 saw the visiting Boars jump out to a 3 to 2 lead over the Rangers new pitcher scoring 3 in the 1st with Hall and Tabata scoring off Rookie Dylan Pletsch double and Pletsch scoring on Travis Knights first hit of the day. The Boars pushed  3 more across in the 2nd with Brandon Lucas,  Zach Stacy, and Markus Hall all getting home again with Dylan Pletsch providing the fireworks with another 2 RBI single.

Boars first round draft pick and team rookie of the year winner Brandon Lucas took to the mound and picked up the complete game. after allowing 2 in the 1st and just 1 more in the 5th Lucas went the distance allowing 3 earned in 7 innings and striking out 9 to get the win and to take Defensive player of the game.

The Boars added 4 in the 4th frame as K J Jimison singled and scored off a Meade Tabata Single and 2 RBI's also knocking in Markus Hall. Dylan Pletsch again singled with an RBI his 5th on the day and Jimmy Herold knocked in Pletsch with his RBI single. Lucas Struck out the side in the 6th and got his8th and 9th in the 7th and Markus Hall ended it on a grounder to short he tossed to first to end the game.

Offensive player of the game for the Boars was Dylan Pletsch going 3 for 3 with a double 2 singles and 2 runs scored with 5 RBI's

Markus Hall went 2 for 2 with 2 BB and 3 runs scored

Meade Tabata was 2 for 3 with 1 RBI 

Travis Knight went 2 for 4 with an RBI
