Belmont High School June 3, 2018.

On turn the Clock back Day in the MVABL some of the old team jerseys were on display on the players, as the Royals hosted the Boars in game 1. Managers Joe Cantrell and Mark Franklin each wore respective Home and away 1999 Devil Rays Jerseys from the Championship season for the Devil Rays when they played on the same squad.

The Boars jumped on the Royals starter quick Tabata and Pletsch each singled and Rookie Thomas Troy blasted a shot to the hill in center clearing both fences at Belmont High school and the new library construction site. Minner singled and Cash doubled over the fence when Jimmy Herold singled driving in the 2. Herold advanced to 3rd when Zach Stacey doubled. Herold scored off the single by DH Joe Cantrell as the Visiting Boars had put up 6 in their frame. Dylan Pletsch held the Royals to 1 run in the 1st Boars led 6 to 1.

In the 2nd the Boars started again with 2 outs when Troy drew a walk Nick Stacey and Sully Minner each singled and Jason Cash Tripled and scored when Jimmy Herold singled again driving him in Herold scored on an error in left,  and Greg Pfeiffer took a double. Pletsch stuck out the side in the 2nd retired the Royals in order in the 3rd but gave up 2 in the 4th while the Boars still led 11 to 3 after 4.

In the 5th after a couple scoreless innings for the Boars they managed 1 run in the 5th again from Jimmy Herold after a double Herold advanced on WP and Greg Pfeiffer drove him in on a F/C with Pfeiffer retired at first. Boars lead was 12 to 3.

The Boars added 2 more in the 6th after Meade Tabata was hit by a pitch,  moved up when Pletsch was walked he then stole 3rd and Pletsch scored on a sac fly by Thomas Troy. Pletsch stumbled in the 5th giving up 7  and the Boars clung to a 2 run lead 12 to 10 when they added the 2 runs to bring it to 14 to 10, Pletsch gave way to Nick Stacey to finish Stacey allowed a couple hits and a few BB but no runs crossed on his way to his first Save of the year.

In the top of the 7th the Boars added 3 more runs Pfeiffer singled, Hall was HBP and Tabata Doubled and scored when Pletsch doubled. The Boars took game 17 to 10

In the late game The Boars sent Jason Cash to the Hill against the Royals Michael Cookson, The Home Boars kept the visiting Royals in check while they pushed a run across in the 1st to lead 1 to 0.

The Royals tied it in the 2nd getting one of their own when an untimely error popped up from 2nd base. The Boars again took the lead in the bottom of the 2nd after Minner Walked,  Jimmy Herold launched a Home Run driving in 2 runs over the center field fence  at Belmont. Boars led 3 to 1.

Cash was able to keep the Royals from scoring in the 3rd and the Boars still led 3 to 1.  in the 4th a double from Koogler and a Home Run added to the score for the Royals and left the game tied in a 3 to 3 dead lock. While Cookson had gotten his composure and was cruising retiring the Boars in order in both the 3rd and the 4th innings and with only a single from Zach Stacey in the 5th the Boars were quiet.

Cash was also dealing but with help from the defense and himself a fly ball to right found its way into Sully Minner's glove though even he might confess it was reminiscent of Willie Mays as he was on a dead sprint to the fence when the ball fell in to his glove over his shoulder. Cash then picked off a runner at 2nd for the 3rd out. In the bottom of the 6th Meade Tabata said he was feeling extra innings today and parked a long fly ball into the construction site at the new library, giving the Boars the lead 4 to 3.

Cash set his sights on the win and got smith to pop out to 3rd on a foul ball Struck out Reuman and got a long flyout from Ramsey that was caught in Center by Pletsch  to seal the win for the Boars.
