Centerville High School,Centerville Ohio.

The Wild Boars headed out to Centerville today hoping to put the skids on the latest losses, to the Rangers and the Slammers and faced The Wright Knights.  The Knights wasted little time scoring in the 1st inning as Jarel Bristol, always a hard out for the Boars got a BB and scored a little later off a couple hits from Conner Bishop and Alec Hutzleman.  After the bases were loaded ex-Boars player Zach Carroll grounded into a 5-2-2-3 DP and Garret Copas Ground back to the Pitcher and the damage was limited to just 1 run, with the Boars heading in to bat. Markus Hall led off with the first of his 3 hits and wasted  little time by stealing  2nd. Dylan Pletsch collected the first of his 4 hit day and picked up an RBI after a single to right center. Thomas Troy got a single and RBI scoring Pletsch ,Boars had a slight lead 2 to 1 after 1 complete.

Pletsch on the mound sent the Knights hitters down in order in the 2nd striking out the last batter in the inning. Boars came up in the bottom of the 2nd and picked up where they left off again scoring twice. Pruim and and Jimison were both hit by a pitch and Markus Hall drove them both in with a triple for his 2nd hit in 2 at bats. Boars were leading 4 to 1 after 2.

The Knights struck hard in the 3rd,after a Strike out of Bristol Connor Bishop and Alec Hutzleman again went back to back with singles and after a walk to Zach Carroll , Garret Copas hit a single scoring the base runners when all was done the Knights had the lead 5 to 4 with the Boars coming in to bat. The Knights lead was short as the Boars re-took the lead in the bottom of the 3rd scoring 3 times Pletsch again hit a single off Carroll and promptly stole 2nd Thomas Troy and Nick Stacy were both HBP and Sully Minner took advantage of the pitch and drove it into the outfield collecting 2 RBI's, Travis Knight was HBP and Dave Pruim drove in Minner  when a sharp hit ball to the 3rd baseman allowed the ball to go over the 2nd baseman's head and into the outfield but not far enough to score Knight. The Boars had re-taken the lead 7 to 5.

Travis Knight came on in relief and held the Knights scoreless in the 4th, 5th, and 6th.  The Boars however continued to add to their lead with Pletsch scoring in the 4th, and Pruim, Pfeiffer, Hall, Herold and Pletsch all scoring off hits by Markus Hall  and doubles from Herold and Pletsch in the 5th and going down in order in the 6th after 6 complete the Boars lead was 13 to 5.

But the Knights would not just go away quietly after a fly out to Stacey in Right by Bishop, Hutzleman hit a 2B, and singles by next 3 Knights batters brought in 3 runs and a 4th after the 7 hole hitter was retired and another single brought the 4th run to cross the plate in the inning with 2 outs. Knight K'd the last batter to take the win for the Boars.

Travis Knight earned his 1st win of the 2018 season, to go along with his 2 saves. Knight had 4 IP, with 3 K's.

Dylan Pletsch took Boars Offensive player of the game, going 4 - 4 with a 2B,  3 RBI's, 2 SB.

Markus Hall takes a HM, going 3 -4 with 4 RBI'S and a 3B.

Rain in the area forced the cancellation of game 2 with lightning striking as the players were getting ready to take the field the groundskeepers at Centerville High School recommended the cancellation and umpires and coaches conceded it was in the best interest to re-schedule.
