The Wild Boars still on their road trip returned to Oak Grove Tuesday evening for the 1st night game of the season, for the rain make-up game with the Dayton Rangers.

The Boars were able to win the game their 5th consecutive win and a teams best. But in the contest suffered a huge devastating loss. 2nd year pitcher David Pruim while in the 2nd inning with the Boars up 2 to 1 over the Rangers, Pruim was delivering a pitch when he broke his humerus bone in his pitching arm.  Boars Managers, players as well as members from the Rangers, rushed to the mound, medics in Washington Twp. were called and Pruim was removed from the field with applause from the fans and opposing players for respect.

Dave Pruim as he is known to his team mates was off to his best start with 2 wins on the season with 2.08 ERA and 21 strikeouts he was leading the team in pitching categories, at the plate he was averaging .333. Pruim had surgery on the arm today 5/29/19 and is doing well when we spoke to him at Miami Valley South Hospital.

Stepping in to fill his place was Gary North, North and the Boars defense went back and forth with the solid Rangers led by Jonmarc Lippencott with opposing pitchers Joe Becker the starter and Ben Schooler who took the loss.

The Boars at one point led 4 to 2 with Dylan Pletsch hitting his 1st home run of the season. But the never go away Rangers tied it in the bottom of the 3rd 4 to 4.

In the 4th the Boars scored when Boars rookie Brian Erbe got a single, and came home on a error. But the Rangers tied it again 5 to 5.

In the 5th Jimmy Herold was HBP and scored off Matt Seiberts single, the Boars led 6 to 5. But Ben Schooler had other plans and hit a home run to the right center gap, to tie the game at 6, and this game looked as if it was going to go back and forth and continue into extras.

The Boars scored in the 6th when Dylan Pletsch was HBP and Jimmy Herold Doubled. And Herold scored when Colin Minner, who was held in check most of the night, singled and the Boars lead was 8 to 6. But here came the Rangers, after hitting back to back singles they were threatening again.  But after a fly ball to right split the runners at 1st and 3rd a sharp hit ground ball to Markus Hall at 2nd base started the 4 to 6 to 3 double play and Rangers threat was over.

The Boars added an extra run the 7th, and brought on 2nd year pitcher Dylan Pletsch to close it. after a ground out to 2nd Nick Gilmore doubled. Pletsch struck out the 3rd batter he faced but Gilmore scampered home on a pitch that went wide of Jimmy Herold. after a walk Pletsch settled and struck out the 5th batter giving himself the Save and preserving the Boars win.

Dave Pruim pitched 1 1/3 inning giving up 1 earned run and striking out 2.

Gary North went 4 2/3 innings giving 5 runs 4 earned striking out 2 earning his 1st win of the season.
