Sunday the 21st of August closed the regular season for the Wild Boars as they visited the Redleg’s for the season finale. Brent Cox took the mound in game 1, After Dylan Bower and Matt Seibert scored on a Jimmy Herold double. The ever-resilient Redleg’ wasted NO time in working bases loaded after a Robinson walk and a Jones F/C, Markus Hall turned a 5 to 2 to 3 double play to end the Redleg’s charge and get the Boars back to bat.

The Boars added 3 more runs in the 2nd inning as Minner, Griffis (RBI) and Bower (RBI) scored, and Markus Hall clipped an RBI double. The Boars were out front 5 to 0. The Redleg’s batters were retired in order.

The Boars went relatively quiet in the 3rd. While the Redleg’s again loaded the bases full only to be turned away when Hall turned the team’s 2nd, 5 to 2 to 3 double play.  After the 4th the rains got a little more intense and the teams were ordered off the field. Looking bleak both teams worked the mound until it was good enough to stand on and after an hour play resumed.

The Boars added a Matt Seibert run in the 5th to go to 6 to 0. The Redleg’s finally got to Cox in the 5th after a strikeout Jacob Robinson let loose on a triple and scored on a Jesse Jones single. Jones would score on a errant throw to 3rd and the Redleg’s had 2 quick runs. Cox got a ground out to Combs and a strikeout on Hartman to end the inning. The Boar’s lead was now 6 to 2.

The Boars would seemingly go in order in the 6th a walk to Jackson Forbes put him on but a F/C to 2nd knocked him right off for the 3rd out. Matt Mattice would double and score on a Max Ramsey single.

Top of the 7th had the Boars plate 3 runs after Seibert walked Hall doubled for the 2nd time, Combs reached on a F/C, Holmes and Griffis singled with RBIs. The Boars stretched their lead t0 9 to 3 and the Redleg’s could not counter as Cox struck out the leadoff batter a grounder to 2nd, a base hit for Hartman left him stranded on base when a groundout to Hall at 3rd ended the game.

Bower would in return get HBP and took off to steal 2nd moving Jones right into the path of a Matt Seibert line shot which he snagged and flipped to first to double off Bower. Hall up with 2 outs, got a base hit and Jimmy Herold launched one to right into the trees for a 2 run HR. Jason Combs would single and steal 2nd, and Sully Minner would bring him in on a RBI double.

Neither team would score again until the 4th as Banks retired the Redleg’s in order in the 2nd and the 3rd. Jacob Robinson reached on an error. A diving Matt Seibert made a great snag behind 2nd, but Brian Miracle just could snag it and Jones would reach, Both Jones and Robinson would score closing on the Boars 3 to 2. The Boars would reclaim the runs in the home half, Sean Johnson, walked and came home on a Dylan Bower triple. Seibert would bring Bower in with an RBI single.

Banks would retire the first 2 batters he faced in the 5th with strikeouts. A ground out by Jacob Robinson to first would shut the Redleg’s down. Mother Nature did the rest. As the clouds opened on the Boars and Redleg’s.
