Boars and Scouts at the Grove under the lights

Thursday Night at the Grove in Centerville Ohio,

The Xenia Scouts came to Centerville to play host to the Wild Boars at Oak Grove. Dylan Bower led off with a triple to right field.  Bower would come home on an RBI single by Aaron “Mookie” Holmes, but the Boars would strand both Holmes and Markus Hall as they went to the field. Bower was his typical night striking out both the 1st and last batter in the inning as the Boars came back up quickly.

The 2nd inning the Boars pulled away just as quick putting up 4 runs off Cvetkovich aided by 3 straight singles by Bower, Stewart and Hall, as the Boars lead increased to 5 to 0. The Scouts next 3 batters went in order and the Boars were right back at it but were not able to do anything as they left some baserunners on again.

The home half of the 3rd inning the Scouts broke through as Anthony Ragan got on by a F/C stole 2 bases and scored on a Lou Ryan single. Mookie Holmes took an Alex Schulke grounder himself to retire the Scouts at 5 to 1. The Wild Boars went in order in the 4th inning while the Scouts Jonathan Sherman tripled to right, after a BB to Chopiak, the Boars turned the 6 to 4 to 3 DP to get out of the inning.

The Wild Boars added 3 more in the 5th after Holmes singled, Bryce Hughes was hit by pitch and Ben Wischer singled. Mike Wischer III did the damage with a single to fence bringing in 2 runs and Ryan Earley popped out to 2nd. The Boars now led 8 to 1. After getting the first 2 Scouts hitters to pop out to Short and strike out, Bower keeping everyone on their toes plunked the next 2 hitters before Alex Schulke flew out to right field.

The top of the 8th the Wild Boars Brandon Bower singled, followed by a Dylan Bower single and a sacrifice by Micah Stewart. Led to a run and an errant throw led to another. The Boars had a 12 to 1 lead as Dylan Bower exited the game after the 7th and striking out 2 hitters.

The Boars lone exception was Mike Wischer’s 3rd single of the day, but Mike was stranded on second after a PB, and the next 2 batters were called out on strikes. The Scouts got down to their last out after a pop fly and ground out led to the Boars needing 1. Then it got a little to cutesy a dropped foul ball led to a walk a F/C and a BB led to another run. But a very, very, long run by Bryce Hughes in rightfield ended the game as he snagged it last second.

Dylan Bower gets the Win 6 innings allowing 1 run, 3 hits, 3 BB, 7 Ks.

Dylan Bower takes Boars Offensive Player of the Game 3 for 3 with 3 runs 2 RBIs and a triple.

HM goes to Aaron Mookie Holmes 3 for 4, 2 singles 1 double, 2 Runs 1 SB and Mike Wischer also 3 for 3 3 singles 1 BB 1 Run, 2 RBIs.

Boars Defensive Player of the Week goes to Aaron Mookie Holmes 6 Put Outs, 2 assist.

Next up for the Boars travel to Carlisle to take on the Rangers in a High Noon showdown South of town. Carlisle High School is the setting hope to see everyone there.
